The Guest (2018, Hadi El Bagoury) zit vol komische elementen die zich voordoen als een intellectueel drama, uitgegroeid tot een ware thriller. De acteurs spelen een grote rol in het succes van dit tijd-, plaats- en actie specifieke werk van filmische kunst.

Regisseur Hadi El Bagoury begon zijn carrière als uitvoerend producent en switchte eind jaren negentig naar tv-commercials. Hij regisseerde ook veel succesvolle muziekvideo's met Arabische artiesten en de thrillerfilm Warda (2014), de eerste Egyptische productie die werd opgenomen in ‘found-footage’ stijl.

Director Hadi El Bagoury started his career as an executive producer, then shifted to directing TV commercials towards the late 1990s. He has also directed many successful music videos working with Arab artists and the thriller film Warda (2014), which is the first Egyptian feature to be shot in found-footage style.
